OPSEU Region 6 is well represented in municipal election races

Sep 28, 2014

OPSEU Region 6 members have solidly stepped up to run for seats on municipal councils ! (see list below)

We sure need this kind of representation on municipal councils in our communities. The issues we face, though largely provincial, have considerable connection to municipal affairs. Our activists, as municipal representatives, can exert considerable influence on decisions that affect our members.

These candidates need your support - (canvassing, phone calls, taking a sign); and they also need financial support. If, like me, you have been a candidate, then you know the expense and demands of a campaign. Please help the best way you can, and please ask your Local to consider making a financial donation.

Region 6 is known for its solidarity....let's continue to show that with our candidates.

Here is the list I have so far:

Rita Hamilton, running for Mayor of Bonfield

Rick Hamilton, Local 604, running for re-election as Mayor of Elliot Lake

Terry Sheehan, Local 601, running for re-election as Councillor for Ward 3 in Sault Ste. Marie

Frank Fata, Retiree, running for re-election as councillor for Ward 5 in Sault Ste. Marie

Frank Turco, Local 613, running for town council in Laird Township (east of Sault Ste. Marie)

Patricia Hewitt, Local 674, running for council in New Liskeard

Richard Larcher, Retiree, running for council in Sudbury Ward 5

In solidarity,

Jeff
